IRELAND BEATEN BY DUTCH IN CRICKET WORLD CUP GAME

IRISH World Cup Cricket finals hopes have been dashed after Ireland were knocked out of the ICC Trophy in a gripping Super League match against Holland.

The Irish fell an agonising two-runs short of the Dutch total of 217 after some impressing batting by Jason Molins. The team fell short of their target with just one ball left after Molins’ impressive opening.

If Ireland had won they would have been playing Canada on Friday for a place in the World Cup qualifying final.

However, defeat for Ken Rutherford's men mean they are now rooted to the bottom of the eight-team Super League table. (MB)
