Fantastic Line-Up For Titanic Festival

Tourism Minister Arlene Foster today said the Titanic Belfast Festival 2012 will be a truly spectacular occasion for the city and wider Northern Ireland community.

Over 120 events will take place, ranging from a cutting-edge show in Titanic Quarter, an MTV Rocks at the Docks concert at the Titanic Slipways and a gala commemorative event in the Waterfront Hall.

Speaking at the official launch of the festival at Belfast City Hall this morning, the Minister said: "Belfast is set to host an outstanding programme of events to mark the opening of the multi-million pound Titanic Belfast attraction. From a breathtaking light show to commemoration services on the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking, and a range of plays, tours, talks, films and major musical events all positioning the city as the home of the Titanic.

"The Titanic Belfast Festival programme is a key element of the ni2012 Our Time, Our Place campaign. Over the next year, Northern Ireland will be showing the rest of the world just what is has to offer visitors. As well as the opening of the impressive Giant’s Causeway visitors centre, we will be hosting the Irish Open at Royal Portrush just two of a host of exciting events planned."

A key driver behind the ni2012 campaign is the Executive's commitment to drive faster economic growth through a substantial investment in tourism.
