Support For NI Tourism And Hospitality Industry
Today Employment and Learning Minister, Dr Stephen Farry outlined that his Department is prioritising support for the tourism and hospitality industry in Northern Ireland.
Over the next two years, Northern Ireland will host an impressive series of events, celebrations and the launch of many exciting new visitor attractions. These include the opening of Titanic Belfast, hosting the Irish Open, the opening of the new Visitor Centre at the Giant's Causeway and a host of other events throughout 2012 leading into 2013 with Derry/Londonderry as UK City of Culture and Belfast hosting the World Fire and Police Games.
Minister Farry said: "I recognise the opportunities for the tourism and hospitality industry over this period and I am determined to make the most of these opportunities to provide employment for the local labour market and to boost the local economy. Obviously the skills of staff are fundamental to success. Consequently, I have designated it as a priority area."
Three Arrested Over Belfast Attack
Three men have been arrested in connection with an attack on a man in Belfast at the weekend.
The 32-year-old was assaulted by a group of men in the Hope Street area of the city centre at around 10.30pm on Saturday night.
He suffered from a "superficial wound" to his right side as well as cuts and bruising to his body.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The men, aged 16, 28 and 36, were arrested by police a short time after the attack and last night were assisting police with their enquiries.
Three Arrested After Shop Robbery
Two men have robbed a shop of cash and cigarettes at Carrigart Avenue in west Belfast.
The robbers, one armed with a knife, threatened a member of staff before making off. A red car was found a short time afterwards in Rossnareen Avenue.
The staff member was not injured during the incident.
Two males aged 18 and 17, and a 16-year-old girl have been arrested for questioning about the incident.

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Kidnapping
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping. The males, aged 33 and 31, were detained in Co L'Derry. It is believed there arrests are in connection with an incident in the city on Thursday, 26 October. No further details have been released.

Three Men Arrested After Failing To Stop For Police In South Belfast
Three men have been arrested after failing to stop for police in south Belfast. The suspects, aged 19, 21 and 25 were arrested on the Old Milltown Road after the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle just after 1.45pm on Wednesday, 28 September. A woman who was in the other vehicle escaped injury.

Three Arrested In Connection With Ballymena Murder
Police are treating the death of a 69-year-old man from Ballymena as murder. The victim was discovered in the Drumtara area on Tuesday afternoon. Two men, aged 41 and 49, and a woman, 47, have been arrested and are in police custody. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Man Charged In Possession Of Heroin
A man is to appear in court charged in possession of heroin. Police arrested five people during searches of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 16 January. Two men have also been charged in possession of a Class A drug. A 50-year-old woman has also been charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class A drug.

Three youths arrested after paint bomb attack
Three youths were arrested last night after paint bombs and stones were thrown at police in Londonderry. The officers were targeted at around 23:00 in the Fahan Street area. Earlier it had been reported that a paint bomb was thrown at a house in the Fountain area.
