PROVINCE’S HOUSEBUILDERS TAKE PRIDE IN THE JOB
THIRTY-TWO building site managers have won Quality Awards in the first round of the National House-Building Council (NHBC) 2001 Pride in the Job campaign.
Those singled out for their competence in house-building include Peter Quinn, who worked on a site at Danesfort, on the Malone Road for Felix O’Hare & Co Ltd, and Bill Houston, for his work at the Ashbrook Farm site in Portrush, for Instep Farms Ltd.
Overall, the 32 winners from Northern Ireland are among 400 of those chosen from the 16,000 site managers eligible to be considered for a Quality Award.
Pride in the Job Awards are presented to the site managers whom NHBC believe have demonstrated commitment to high standards throughout all areas of the construction process.
Announcing the winners, David Chapman, senior regional director of NHBC, said: “The aim of Pride in the Job is simple. The built environment, and houses in particular, play an intimate role in everybody’s lives so it is important that builders strive for the highest standards. We want to encourage site managers to take pride in their work, their team and the end product.”
Last year, three candidates from the province went forward to the finals, and the 2001 campaign will reach its climax in January next year, when the top three site managers in the UK will be chosen from a shortlist of the top 100 site managers. (CL)
