250 Jobs Lost Following Peacocks Closures
Hundreds of jobs are to be lost in Northern Ireland as a retailer closes the doors of 19 stores across the country.
The clothing retailer, Peacocks, has said that the closures will lead to more than 250 job losses in total.
This news follows the clothing store being placed into administration last month- it has now been bought by the Scottish retailer Edinburgh Woollen Mill however despite this nearly two thirds of the company’s branches have been forced to close.
Ten stores will remain open, saving 140 jobs.
These are located at the Connswater and Westwood stores in Belfast, Larne, Downpatrick, Dungannon, Limavady, Newry, Omagh, Armagh and Strabane.
All other branches have ceased trading with immediate effect.
