NEW TARGETS ANNOUNCED FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICE

KEY performance targets for the Business Development Service (BDS), which aim to ensure quality and value for money across public services, have been announced by the Minister of Finance and Personnel, Mark Durkan, MLA.

BDS, an Agency within the Department of Finance and Personnel, provides a wide range of services to Northern Ireland Departments, their Executive Agencies and the wider public sector. These services include management consultancy, IT consultancy, telecommunication services, training services, printing services and library services. It also provides administrative support to the Northern Ireland Civil Service Ideas Scheme.

Mr Durkan said: "The announcement of specific targets ensures the Executive’s accountability and openness in delivering public services. The Programme for Government prioritises the need to provide efficient and effective services, by setting targets we can ensure this is achieved."

The Minister continued: "BDS is at the forefront of our drive to make the machinery of government in Northern Ireland work more efficiently. By helping public sector bodies to do their work better, BDS has a direct impact upon the lives of the whole community." (CL)
