CO ANTRIM CENTRE TO CREATE 100 HI-TECH JOBS
UP to 100 hi-tech jobs are likely to be created thanks to a new technology centre being established by the University of Ulster.
Based at the University’s Jordanstown campus in County Antrim, the centre will allow start-up firms to tap into the university's technological expertise and research facilities. It will also be expected to provide support for new businesses and joint ventures.
This is fourth such centre to be created by the university following the establishment of similar centres in Coleraine, Londonderry and west Belfast .
The new initiative is also likely to draw on Jordanstown's particular research strengths in engineering, electronics, ICT, built environment, advanced materials, communications engineering, sensors and biomedical engineering.
The new centre is part of the university's overall technology transfer strategy which aims to have such facilities at each of its campuses, feeding into the University Science Research Park network and Northern Ireland Science Park.
The £2.5m Technology and Engineering Innovation Centre, which will give help to fledgling engineering companies, is scheduled for completion next year. (MB)
