Anna Lo Avoids Car-Jack Attempt

The South Belfast Alliance Party MLA Anna Lo has revealed she was the victim of a failed car-jacking attempt on Friday.

The MLA was threatened at knife point on Lawrence Street at 12.45pm. Ms Lo said she and the attacker , who was between 11 and 14, had a short stand-off before the attacker ran off without taking the car. Ms Lo was not injured.

Ms Lo told the BBC: "I think he recognised me and ran away. I had left a bag and my handbag behind the driver's seat and as I straightened up out of the car, he was behind me."

The Alliance MLA said the youth demanded her keys, but when she refused to hand them over there was a he ran off through a nearby alleyway.

Man Hit With Brick In Co Down
A man is being treated in hospital after he was hit by a brick in Co Down. The incident occurred on Iveagh Drive in Banbridge at around 8.30pm on Wednesday. The victim was injured after a brick was thrown through the window of his house. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Man Arrested After Body Found In Lisburn
A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was discovered in a car in Lisburn. A man was found dead in the Limehurst Way area at around 4.20pm on Monday, 26 September. Police are treating the death as suspicious. A post-mortem is to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
