Dungannon Man In Court Over IED
A Dungannon man has appeared in court today in connection with explosive charges.
Thirty-two-year-old Patrick Carty of Springdale Estate in Dungannon Co. Tyrone is alleged to have had possession of an explosive device with the intent to endanger life or cause serious damage to property.
The device which was found in a field at the Killybraken Road in Dungannon back in April last year was one which was not know to Northern Ireland. It was an Improvised Explosive Device or an IED, an explosive most commonly associated with warfare in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It is understood that the defendant’s fingerprints were found on the black plastic bag, which was wrapped around the device.
Mr Carty has been refused bail on the grounds that there is risk of interfering with witnesses.
