Castlewellan Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A woman was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to. Michaela Doherty, 23, of Burren Green Castlewellan was given a two year conditional discharge for wrongful encashment of Income Support totalling £243. She will also have to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Taxi Warden Pilot Scheme For Bangor

Bangor's town centre management is set to begin a pilot taxi warden scheme which aims to ensure pub and club goers get home safe. The wardens will organise queues at taxi ranks on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Lauderdale Properties Goes Bust

Lauderdale Properties have gone into administration. The a joint venture between Dublin developer Ray Grehan and Cavan based P Elliott construction group is the latest victim of the Irish property crash. The company purchased the Windsor House office block on Bedford Street back in with the option to develop the it into flats.

Substation Vandals Leave 6,000 Properties Without Electricity
Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), the network company, has strongly condemned the deliberate interference with electricity equipment in the Ballysillan area on Sunday and Monday nights. Vandals broke into the substation after 11pm on Sunday night, interfering with equipment and leaving over 6,000 properties without power.
