NEW AWARD RECOGNISES EXPORT SUCCESS
A NEW award for the best food or drink exporter in Northern Ireland has been launched to recognise the strength of the province’s success in international markets.
Sponsored by the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and Enterprise, Trade and Investment, the Northern Irish Exporter of the Year award is open to any food or drink company in the province that has been exporting for three years or more.
The new accolade forms part of the annual UK Food and Drink Export Awards, organised by Food from Britain and HSBC. The event, which is now in its seventh year, gives companies of all sizes a chance to demonstrate their high standards and professionalism.
Charlotte Lawson, Director of Business and UK Services at Food from Britain, said: “Despite difficult trading conditions, food and drink companies in Northern Ireland have enjoyed widespread export success in recent years. We are delighted to acknowledge their efforts and achievements, and the quality of their produce, by launching this award.
“Northern Ireland food and drink draws on the combined strength of its farming, culinary and manufacturing heritage, and it is great to see products recognised abroad for their quality and innovation.” (CL)
