Golfers Honoured At Awards Ceremony

A Northern Irish golfing star has been acknowledged with a prestigious sporting award.

Dungannon-born Darren Clarke was honoured with the international sporting award for his win at the Open Championship last year.

He was awarded the Laureus Sports comeback of the year award at a ceremony in London last night.

Another homegrown golfer, Rory McIlroy, also picked up the breakthrough of the year award for his win at the US Open in June 2011.

Derry Sports Centre Given Green Light
A multi-million pound plan to upgrade the leisure facilities in Londonderry's Waterside has been approved after a meeting with Derry City Council's Development Committee. The plans will see a new sports campus constructed at St Columb's Park in a bid to move various sporting interests to one site.
