Pipe Bombs Found In Portadown

Four pipe bombs have been discovered in Portadown.

During a security alert, Army bomb experts were called to a field at Carbet Road at around 10am on Tuesday morning.

The bombs were found in a box and were taken away for further investigation.

PSNI Chief Inspector Anthony McNally said: "These devices left lying in an open area with no thought for who may come across them.

"We are extremely fortunate that we were able to make them safe before anyone was injured or worse."

The police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them immediately on 0845 600 8000.

PSNI Confirms Flag Violence Arrests
The PSNI has confirmed a total of eight arrests were made as a result of disorder over the Belfast City Hall union flag issue. Three police officers were injured when missiles ranging from petrol bombs, paint bombs, fireworks and heavy masonry were thrown by loyalist protesters. PSNI vehicles were attacked with hatchets and sledge hammers.

Four Suspected Pipe Bombs Recovered In Creggan Operation
Four suspected pipe bombs have been recovered by police from inside the City Cemetery in Creggan, L'Derry, following a public safety operation on Tuesday 11th April. The operation was implemented following the discovery of a suspected pipe bomb in the cemetery just after 6.30am yesterday morning.

Helicopter 'Top Cover' As Bomb Defused
Suburban Glengormley returned to normal yesterday evening after the Army dealt with a pipe bomb in Harmin Park. The PSNI helicopter was overhead of the Newtownabbey district - close to north Belfast - for most of Monday afternoon and some residents were asked to leave their homes, while the examination was carried out.

Pipe bomb attacks continue in Country Antrim
County Antrim has been the focus of several overnight incidents involving pipe bombs, which saw one Portrush man narrowly escape injury when his house was singled out for attack. The device was thrown through the window of the house in Glenmanus Park at around midnight on Monday 23 July, but failed to go off.

Pipe Bombs, Gunpowder And Cocaine Seized In Drogheda
Pipe bombs, gunpowder, cocaine, a large quantity of ammunition and suspected Alprazolam tablets have been seized in Co Louth. Garda discovered the haul during the search of a property in Drogheda at around 11pm on Thursday, 23 April. A number of homes in the area had to be evacuated during the search.
