Earthquake Registers On Richter Scale

It has been confirmed that there was a minor earthquake in the Republic of Ireland during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Donegal residents were woken just after 1am by a small tremor and it has since been confirmed by the British Geological Survey (BGS).

BGS said that the earthquake registered 2.2 on the Richter scale and the earthquake’s measured depth was 3km.

It was a small reading in terms of world earthquakes but for Ireland, which does not see much of this activity, is was quite shocking.

The last similar-sized tremor was felt in Ireland in North Clare in 2010.
