NI Film Receives Oscar Nomination

The Shore, written and produced by Belfast film-maker Terry George, has been nominated for an Oscar.

The short film has been nominated under the 'Best Short Film' category.

The Shore, set on the beautiful County Down coast in Northern Ireland, portrays in stunning cinematography, the incredible natural beauty of the location. The two-time Oscar-nominated director, Terry George, used the best local acting talent and a world-renowned crew to bring to life this compelling human story of divided friendship, misunderstanding and eventual reconciliation.

The short film is the inspiring story of two boyhood best friends - Joe (Ciarán Hinds) and Paddy (Conleth Hill) - divided by 25 years of misunderstanding. Their world and their friendship is shattered by the conflict escalating in Northern Ireland, the two boys' lives take very different paths until, 25 years later, Joe returns for the first time to his homeland with his 24-year-old daughter, Patricia.

Foyle Film Festival Launched
The Foyle Film Festival is set to take place this autumn, it has just been announced. Now in its 21st year, the Foyle Film Festival will be from November 21 to 29th and is now established as the flagship project of Derry's multi-media Nerve Centre.

NI Short Makes London Film Festival
A film produced through Northern Ireland Screen's Digital Shorts Programme has been selected for a prestigious national competition. Sundays, written and directed by Alanna Riddell has been selected for competition at the London Independent Film Festival which runs from 15th to 27th April.

NI film success recognised by Oscar nominations
Two Northern Ireland films have been nominated in this year's Oscars. Writer/director Terry George has been nominated for Best Original Screenplay for his feature 'Hotel Rwanda' and director Gary McKendry has been nominated in the Best Live Action Short for 'Everything In This Country Must'.

Projecting Success At Belfast Film Festival

'Hunger' Set For UK Release On October 31
