Foster Announces 21 New Jobs For Omagh Firm

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has announced that JMG Systems Ltd in Omagh is creating 21 new jobs with support from Invest Northern Ireland.

Family-run JMG Systems provides engine monitoring systems, from prototype development to full scale systems, for quarrying, recycling, crushing, aircraft ground support, construction and automotive equipment. It currently employs 72.

Invest NI has offered £80,000 of support for the new jobs under its Jobs Fund scheme, which aims to stimulate job creation in response to the challenges of the global economic downturn.

Announcing the new jobs the Minister said: "These new jobs will be a mix of engineering, production operatives and administrative support and offer high quality employment opportunities in an area that has been significantly affected by the global downturn. When in place they will contribute some £380,000 a year in salaries to the economy.

"JMG has pro-actively responded to the downturn by investing in product development to diversify and target new markets. The additional staff will be required to help the company grow in export markets, provide additional customer support and increase the technical capability of the company to drive research and development."

Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.

Linden Foods Creates 179 New Jobs
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has announced a £5 million investment by Dungannon-based Linden Foods, which will create 179 new jobs. Linden Foods is a market leader within the Northern Ireland fresh meat processing industry, sourcing and processing top quality beef and lamb.

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.
