Newly-Wed Murder Trial To Commence

Two men are due to appear in court charged with the murder of Micheala Harte in Mauritius.

Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Harte's daughter Micheala was killed in her hotel room during her honeymoon on January 10 2011.

It is believed the newly-wed was strangled during a burglary attempt at her chalet in the luxury Legends hotel.

Avinash Treebhowoon and Sandip Mooneea have pleaded not guilty. The trial will begin on May 22.

Attempted Murder Investigation Launches In Ballygowan
An attempted murder investigation has been launched after shotgun pellets were fired into a house in Ballygowan on Saturday evening, 22 June. Police received a report that at around 11pm, a number of shotgun pellets were fired through the window of a house in the Brae Grove area, striking a woman in the head and her back.

The PSNI has launched an attempted murder investigation following an attack on two officers in the Mount Carmel Heights area of Strabane. The targeted attack took place shortly before 11pm on Thursday 17 November, when an improvised explosive device caused damage to a police vehicle.

28-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Violent Ballymena Attack
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a stabbing incident in Ballymena. A man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to his head, neck and stomach after he was reportedly attacked at his home in the Grove Road area. The incident is said to have taken place shortly after 4am this morning.

Call For Police Support Over Comber Murder Bid
An Alliance MLA has issued a call for support for the police following a shooting in Comber. The gun attack on Sunday night, 15 March, is being treated as attempted murder. A man in his 50s had driven into a yard in the Ballycreely Road area of the town when a masked man armed with a suspected handgun emerged from a hedge.

A 22-year-old man will appear before Dungannon Magistrates' Court charged in connection with a shooting incident in Co L'Derry. On Friday 09 March, 2018, a man was found in a car on the Cairndaisy Road with a gunshot wound to his head. He is continuing to be treated for his injury.
