NI Sees Demand For Heating Oil Drop

The demand for oil, used to heat the home, has fallen: cost-conscious consumers are taking advantage of milder winter weather to save money.

According to the Northern Ireland Oil Federation imports of home heating oil have dropped by 15%.

High energy prices have impacted on peoples budgets and faced with economic challenges many households are trying to make savings.

The BBC reported that Northern Ireland consumers are now facing higher prices with the typical cost of a 900-litre fill jumping by over 2.5% to £561.

Meanwhile world prices have already surged by 4% since the start of the year, reaching an eight-month high earlier this week.
