Thieves Target Elderly At Home

An elderly couple have been robbed in their home after a bogus caller forced entry.

The caller forced their way into the pensioners’ home at Cedarhill house, Antrim, at about 12:40 on Wednesday claiming he was worried about youths stealing in the area. He then stole money.

The caller has been described as being in his 50s and was wearing a flat cap, a dark coat and grey trousers at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile elsewhere in a separate incident two men posing as water service workers have robbed an elderly woman in Newtownards.

The pair called to the house in the Scrabo Road area at about 13:00 GMT on Tuesday.

After getting into the woman's home the men stole cash and left.

One of the robbers was described as being in his 30s, about 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build, darkish curly hair and was wearing a dark navy fleece with a charcoal round neck jumper underneath and brown suede like boots.

The second man was said to be in his 40s, about 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins, of heavy build, with sandy/ginger hair. He was wearing white trainers and a grey anorak with black stripe.

Security Alert Finds Nothing At MLA's Home
A security alert at the North Antrim home of Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has ended without incident. Police were called to the home following a report that a bomb had been left at the house. It is understood an anonymous caller telephoned the MLA's office in Dunloy claiming that an explosive device had been planted.

Army Remove Device In Banbridge GAA Alert
A 'viable' pipe bomb has been found at a GAA ground in County Down. The bomb was found during an overnight alert at the ground on the Ballela Road outside Banbridge. Police have since described the device as "viable" and it has now been removed by the Army Technical Officers.

Police investigate bogus caller robbery
Police are investigating a robbery in the Hillsborough Drive area of east Belfast. A male called at a house shortly after 5pm on Wednesday evening, claiming to be from the Housing Executive. The man, who was not carrying identification, said a letter would have been previously sent to notify the homeowner of the visit.

Appeal Issued For Missing Jordon Lester
Police are appealing for information to help trace missing 19-year-old Jordon Lester. He was last seen on Sunday, 04 November, shortly before midnight in the Kingsbury Gardens area of Coleraine. His family and the PSNI are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Woman's Car Hijacked While Making Delivery In Belfast
A female delivery driver was threatened by two youths armed with knives in north Belfast on Monday 08 October, before they made off with her car. The two youths may have been as young as 15. The victim was approached and threatened as she made a fast-food delivery in the Pinkerton Walk area of the city shortly before 11.30pm.
