WiFi Usage Soars At McDonald's
McDonald's £300m UK-wide restaurant investment programme is now seeing the company serve up more emails a day than it does Big Macs1. This is due to growing numbers of 'data diners' - business people attracted by the company’s free WiFi service.
Latest figures for the free WiFi service in McDonald's restaurants across Northern Ireland show a staggering 12,140 customers a month are logging on. The total data downloaded monthly by customers is 195,386 megabytes.
Paul Connan, local McDonald's franchisee said: "Demand for WiFi in my restaurants is growing at an incredible pace, to the extent that it is now one of our most popular side orders. In such a challenging economic climate, providing an outstanding customer experience is vital. When money is tight we’re all choosier about where we spend it and investing in my staff, my restaurants and in extras such as free WiFi means that my customers get a great deal. I'm delighted that so many people are finding this free service so beneficial."
The end of 2012 will mark the completion of a five year, £300m extensive refurbishment programme which will see the majority of McDonald's restaurants in Northern Ireland benefit from a new look. In addition to an enhanced customer experience through free WiFi, contactless payment and extended opening hours, the redesigned restaurants will feature a bright and modern interior and exterior design and offer a transformed menu.
