Belfast to host corporate World Congress
The International Development Research Council (IDRC) have announced further details of the IDRC Belfast World Congress 2001 to be held from 15-18 September.
Belfast will host senior executives representing the elite of the global Corporate Real Estate industry at this major European property convention.
Billed as Europe’s ‘World Cup of Corporate Real Estate,’ the 2001 IDRC Belfast World Congress will present Senior Executives from global corporations such as Ford, Accenture, BT and IBM, forecasting the future of corporate real estate management, and discussing the ways in which the European economy is creating new opportunities for corporations.
Entitled ‘Leveraging Knowledge and Innovation to Create Corporate Value’, the four-day congress will present the latest research and views of US and EU property leaders on the impact of technology, the new global economy and the current economic downturn on corporate real estate management. They will also discuss the implications for the future of the corporate real estate industry.
This is first time Northern Ireland has hosted the world’s leading corporate real estate and property research organisation - IDRC, representing a major coup for one of Europe’s emerging economies. Belfast follows Hong Kong, Sydney, Copenhagen-Malmo, Seattle, Orlando and New York as hosts of recent IDRC World Congresses.
Chairman of the International Development Research Council Europe, Philip Coates commented on the announcement: “The regeneration in Belfast is attracting billions in international investment. The city is now well placed to realise its intrinsic potential as a corporate real estate location.”

Mervyn King warned regulation alone would not prohibit conditions which led to the international financial crisis. He said large banks should split their activities so they did not view themselves as too big to fail.
