Belfast Detectives In Hunt For Violent Robbers

Police officials in north and west Belfast have asked for help in tracing the men behind two separate burglaries in which the victims were also attacked.

They are appealing for information after a report of an aggravated burglary at residential premises in the Alexandra Park Avenue area on Saturday, 3 December.

Detectives from Tennent Street said that shortly before 7.20pm, it was reported that four hooded men entered a house in the area with one man armed with a hammer.

The male occupant was hit on the head with the hammer, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The PSNI said that one of the males is described as being approximately 5'2" tall, heavy build, late 20s/early 30s and wearing a charcoal coloured tracksuit. Another male is described as approximately 6' tall.

The four males then made off on foot towards the Dunmore Park area.

A police statement said: "Anyone who has any information or who saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact Tennent Street CID on 0845 600 8000.

"Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

PSNI detectives are also appealing for information after a report of a second aggravated burglary - this time at residential premises in the New Lodge Road area, also on Saturday, 3 December.

It was reported that in the early hours of Saturday, 3 December three males forced entry to a house and assaulted the male occupant.

He was struck over the head with a bottle and then stabbed in the head with the broken remains of the bottle.

He sustained facial injuries, a black eye and swelling and cuts to his head. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Again the detectives said that anyone who has any information or who saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact Tennent Street CID on 0845 600 8000.
