Pub Chain To Create 1,000 Jobs
A pub chain has revealed its plans to build nearly 25 new pubs next year and in a positive move the brewer will create 1,000 jobs.
Marston’s Pubs, a chain which already owns nearly 2,000 public houses across the UK, has revealed that it built 19 pubs last year and anticipates that it will build 25 pubs in 2012.
Marston’s, who brew Pedigree and Banks's ales, said that food sales were up and last year they sold 26million meals at an average price of £6. Pre-tax profits rose 54% to £80.8m for the company in 2011.

5,000 Pub Jobs Lost In 12 Months
A leading publicans group has called on the Government to protect the jobs of bar workers after almost 5,000 jobs were lost in the sector in the last year. The Vintners' Federation of Ireland (VFI), said yesterday that the industry was in turmoil with the closure of 1,700 pubs in the past five years – with 250 alone in the last 12 months.

NI unemployment figures increase
The number of people unemployed in Northern Ireland is on the increase according to the latest figures. Labour force statistics released on Wednesday revealed that some 46,000 people are unemployed, a rise of 3,000 on the this time last year.

Asda To Create 7,000 Jobs Across The UK
Supermarket giant Asda has announced it is to create 7,000 jobs across the UK this year. Asda plans to open 25 new stores as part of its expansion, and it has also been reported its new style Asda Essentials , a discount chain stocking 95 per cent of its own brands, will open in Northampton in March.

ASDA Stores Help Deliver 8,000 New Jobs
ASDA is creating 8,000 news jobs and building a minimum of 18 new stores across the UK this year. In addition, it is to carry out major extensions and improvements to 15 of its existing stores and roll out the successful non-food format 'ASDA Living' to a further 10 sites within the next 12 months.

New homes and local job creation should go hand in hand as the key to creating thriving communities the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) said, as it welcomed Government's announcement of £180m for Round 2 of its Local Authority New Build Programme. The Agency also announced that 12 additional Local Authority schemes would receive a total of £13.
