APT and Pulsecom announce joint development
Belfast based Audio Processing Technology (APT) and Pulse Communications, Inc (Pulsecom) have released details of a new agreement which will mean joint the development and marketing of a Broadband Audio Channel Card for the US telecommunications industry.
The two companies officially announced their joint venture at the recent Supercom 2001 convention in Atlanta, and are now co-operating on the development of the Pulsecom/APT Program Channel Access Unit (PCAU).
David Corp, Pulsecom Director of Marketing, said: “The introduction of the PCAU represents a major breakthrough in public network audio transport because it frees operating companies from the ‘manual workarounds’ and ‘special assemblies’ that have previously prevented them from selling Broadband Audio alongside Broadband Data.
“As a company, we have long been interested in adding a high quality audio transmission to our portfolio but lacked industry-leading compression technology and experience in broadcast audio. This is precisely the expertise that APT brings to the joint venture and I believe the synergy between the two companies will ultimately set new standards for program channel audio performance.”
APT’s current involvement in program channel audio stems back to April 1999 when the company identified a need within the industry for a high quality audio data compression system. (MB)
