Foreign bid for Belfast International Airport’s parent
French construction firm Vinci are believed to have made an offer for leading airport operator TBI.
If the move is successful it will mean that a foreign company will own Belfast International Airport, which is a part of the TBI group, for the first time.
TBI, which is a public quoted company with a listing on the London Stock Exchange, have numerous other interests and operations around the world including Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Costa Rica, England, Sweden, the USA and Wales.
While Vinci does not have a presence in the UK airport sector they are believed to have acquired a 14.9 per cent stake in TBI. They are also considering making a cash offer for all of TBI at around 90 pence per share, valuing the company at just over £500 million.
Vinci currently employs about 7,000 people in the UK on a range of projects including a contract to maintain bridges over the River Severn. (MB)

Future of Belfast International airport remains unclear
A further slump in the share price of TBI, the company that owns Belfast International Airport has cast doubt on a potential takeover of the airport. The share price of TBI dropped to 52p on Monday September 24 from a high of £1 when the report of a £515 million take over was revealed in mid August.
