Support For NI Apprenticeships Welcomed
The Stormont Employment and Learning Minister, Dr Stephen Farry, has welcomed Schrader Electronics' ongoing support for Apprenticeships, at an Apprentice Team Building Event.
The Minister visited 11 apprentices and their line managers taking part in a team building event to improve personal effectiveness skills at the Belfast Activity Centre.
Acknowledging the importance of apprenticeships to the economy, the Minister said: "Apprenticeships have a key role to play by developing individual skills and strengthening the regional economy.
"There is no doubt that apprenticeships at all levels provide an excellent return on investment for individuals, employers and the economy.
"Investment in training by employers such as Schrader Electronics is vital to improve the skills levels of our workforce and support local economic growth. I welcome the commitment shown today from both Schrader Electronics and its apprentices to the ApprenticeshipNI training model. Even in these challenging times, the training of apprentices remains central to my Department’s response to the economic recovery of Northern Ireland," he said.

Fermanagh man is Modern Apprentice of 2002
A young man from County Fermanagh has been named as the 2002 Modern Apprentice of the Year. Engineering trainee, 20-year-old Gordon Wiggins from Roslea in County Fermanagh, received his award from the Minister for Employment and Learning, at an awards ceremony held recently in Belfast.

New All Age Apprenticeships Initiative Launched
A new All Age Apprenticeships initiative, designed to provide opportunities for more people to embark on a career of their choice, has been launched by the Department for the Economy. The initiative is in response to the Department's recent budget consultation response which evidenced the importance of all age apprenticeships.

MODERN APPRENTICESHIP WINNER ANNOUNCED
AN 18 year old retail trainee from Newcastle has won the province’s first ever Modern Apprentice of the Year Award. During a presentation ceremony held in the Culloden Hotel, Daniel Doran was presented with a trophy, a commemorative plaque and a multi-media PC sponsored by Sx3.

Accessible NI Apprenticeships Welcomed
The NI Employment Minister has 'smashed the barrier' for over 25s wanting to gain an apprenticeship - as from next month the existing age limit on new apprentices will be lifted. Currently schemes are only open to those aged between 16 and 24, and now, individuals over this age can train for a trade in the Province.
