Britney Among Worldwide Act Nominees

Britney Spears has been named among the contenders for MTV's new Worldwide Act award at the 2011 MTV EMAs in Belfast.

Britney, 29, will now go head-to-head with four other nominees, in a bid to secure the accolade.

MTV fans across the globe have been voting for the last five weeks to help their favourite local artists earn the chance to represent their respective regions.

Britney - who made her first appearance back in 1999 - has been chosen to represent North America.

Among those she's up against is Europe's Lena, the 19-year-old German singer who won last year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Also in the running are Korean boy band BIGBANG representing Asia, Egypt-based Abdelfattah Grini for Africa/India/Middle East, and Brazil's relative newcomers Restart for Latin America.

Starting on Monday, the five acts will compete in one last round of voting, which is due to close at 11.59pm on Friday November 4.

The Worldwide Act winner will be announced at the MTV EMAs in Belfast on November 6.

Fans can vote online at www.mtvema.com.
