Moyola Wins Airbus Contract

A local NI business has been engineering success with news that Castledawson-based Moyola Precision Engineering has secured an important deal in Austria following a range of support from Invest Northern Ireland.

Moyola designs and manufactures complex and highly detailed components primarily for the aerospace industry.

The contract secured with Austrian aeronautics firm FACC will see Moyola provide two high value complex components per aircraft for the construction of the Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft.

Invest NI's Dusseldorf office identified this business opportunity and organised a meeting between FACC and Moyola during the prestigious Paris Air Show in June 2011.

Moyola benefited from this tailored in-market support as well as exhibition advice through participating on the Invest NI group stand at the Paris Air Show. Invest NI's advice on export trade and marketing activities has also helped Moyola to successfully enter the European aerospace sector.

Tracy Meharg, Invest NI's Managing Director of Innovation and Capability Development, said: "Moyola Precision Engineering is an enterprising firm with strong growth ambition. Support from Invest NI has helped the company to explore new market opportunities and to secure this prestigious contract.

"FACC works for all major aircraft manufacturers and demands the highest standard of engineering expertise from its suppliers under extremely pressurised timescales. This contract win demonstrates FACC's confidence in Moyola's excellent skills and technical capabilities," she said.

"In the present economic climate it is even more important for businesses to remain focused on exports and the value of our trade advice particularly in-market can be a key ingredient in success. As part of our Boosting Business initiative Invest NI is proactively helping firms to increase their presence in overseas markets."

Mark Semple, Managing Director of Moyola Precision Engineering, said: "Securing this contract with FACC represents a significant milestone in our business development strategy. We are optimistic that success in this initial contract may lead to further opportunities with this important customer.

"The support and advice we have received from Invest NI in recent years have made an important contribution towards our export success and we aim to capitalise on this experience to build our industry reputation and help us leverage future long-term supply contracts."
