PSNI Hunt For Lisburn Road Robbers
An armed robbery at a shop in south Belfast is being probed today.
PSNI detectives are appealing for information following the armed robbery at business premises in the Lisburn Road area yesterday evening, Thursday 20th October.
A police statement said: "At around 7.10pm, it was reported that two unknown males entered a shop in the area, one armed with a knife.
"One member of staff was threatened during the incident but was uninjured. It is believed they made off with a sum of money, cigarettes and two bottles of spirits. They made off along Chadwick Street," said the statement.
The culprits were also described, with one male being in his early to mid 20s, 5'10" tall, with a dark complexion. He was wearing a light blue McKenzie top and dark jeans with white trainers and black leather gloves.
The other is described as being 18 to 22-years-old and very thin and wearing a grey/black waterproof jacket with yellow detailing, dark track bottoms with light blue piping and white trainers.
The police statement concluded: "Anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information is asked to contact Musgrave Street CID on 0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
Alliance South Belfast MLA Anna Lo has since commented: "I am disgusted at the callous behaviour of these robbers who threatened a member of staff with a knife. These robbers could have seriously injured somebody or worse by threatening people with a knife.
"I hope that this staff member will be able to get over what must have been a scary and traumatic experience.
"If anybody has any information about this attack then they should contact the police," she said, this morning.
