Success story for Belfast based furniture store

Belfast based furniture store Dekko, having fought off stiff economic market competition, is celebrating its first successful year in business.

The Boucher Road store, which unlike many other furniture stores which have scaled down their operations, have seen a major expansion over the last 12 months.

The store, which sources most of its products from mainland Europe and the Far East has increased its workforce by more than 25 per cent and employs more than 100 full time and part time staff. Warehouse space, on their south Belfast premises has also increased by 75 per cent.

Speaking on Thursday marketing manager Gareth Oakes said the store’s success was a credit to the company considering the stiff market competition. He added: “As well as seeing increased sales month after month in the consumer side of the business, our corporate business has begun to develop significantly over the past four months.

“A number of major property developers throughout Northern Ireland have come on board choosing Dekko as their preferred supplier of kitchens for apartments and town houses in major developments.”

The company, which is managed by a business consortium, includes a number of Northern Ireland shareholders, and is planning to open additional outlets in both the Republic and the north. (AMcE)
