Tennent's 'Pours Gold' at Drumbo
Next month, NI will be 'going to the dogs' with news that six top dogs will be competing in one of the biggest races of the year, the Tennent's Gold Cup.
They are going for gold on November 5th at Drumbo Park Greyhound Stadium with the first heats in the prestigious tournament.
A total of 36 dogs are in the running to claim the £5,000 prize on November 5, with total prize money at £10,000. Miss Northern Ireland Finola Guinanne (pictured) added a glamorous touch to the launch of the 2011 Tennent's Gold Cup as heats get underway at Drumbo Park Greyhound Stadium.
During the month long festival of racing these 36 will be whittled down to the final six during hotly contested heats on October 15, quarterfinals October 22 and the semi final on October 29.
Drumbo Park Racing Manager John Connor said the Tennent's Gold Cup was one of the most eagerly awaited competitions of the year at the Co Antrim stadium.
"The Tennent's Gold Cup is in its third year and is a great competition. We are really looking forward to some very exciting races in the weeks ahead. Most of the top trainers throughout Ireland will be involved.
"Everyone who attended last year's Gold Cup thoroughly enjoyed themselves and this year’s event will be no exception. Drumbo Park has established itself as one of Northern Ireland's most popular nights out and the Tennent's event is the perfect way to experience the excitement of race night."
Paul McGurk, Tennent's Marketing Manager, said: "We are delighted to be associated with Drumbo Park and to put on such a high calibre competition as the Gold Cup.
"It is traditionally one of the glitziest nights of the year with race-goers encouraged to dress up and really get into the party atmosphere with Tennent's, which is all part of the craic that makes greyhound racing at Drumbo Park such a fantastic night out," he added.
To make a real night out of it they can book a table in the luxurious restaurant with panoramic views of the track and sample the unique buzz of the Grand Final.
The stadium provides a gourmet menu and luxury seating to accommodate more than 300 guests.
The month long festival of racing involves a total of 36 dogs that will be going for gold to claim one of six spots in the Final on November 5, to compete to win the £5,000 top prize from the £10,000 prize pot.
