Foyle Bridge bomb diffused
The Foyle Bridge in Londonderry has reopened after security forces defused a bomb near the railway line.
It is believed the device was left there by the Real IRA.
Police say the bomb, which was found in a household bin and contained 140 pounds of home made explosives, was primed and could have gone off at anytime.
They also said that detailed examination of the bomb confirmed security force fears that it presented a serious risk to the public and to the technical officers who defused it.
The bridge was closed on Wednesday following a telephone warning that a bomb had been left near the main Londonderry to Belfast railway line beneath the bridge. It was eventually reopened, after two days of major traffic chaos, on Friday morning at 10am.
Police have appealed for help from the public in bringing those responsible to justice. (AMcE)

Police investigate County Antrim pipe bomb attacks
Police in Northern Ireland are investigating three overnight pipe bomb attacks on houses in County Antrim. The first incident happened in Newtownabbey when a stone, followed by a bomb, was thrown into the bedroom of a house in Abbeyville Park around 11.30pm on Sunday 29 July.

Railway line closed as suspect device investigated
A stretch of railway line in Co Armagh has been closed after a suspicious device was discovered on a track close to Lurgan. The device was found by workmen on Monday close to Malone Bridge on the Lurgan side of Bells Bridge.

Viable Pipe Bomb Device Found In Newtownabbey
A viable pipe bomb device has been found under a bridge following a security alert in Newtownabbey. The device was discovered at Whitehouse Park at approximately 8.50pm on Saturday. A number of homes were evacuated while the device was examined. All residents returned to their homes at around 1pm on Sunday.
