Andor invest £2.1 million and double the workforce
Belfast-based manufacturer of specialist scientific imaging equipment, Andor Technology, have announced a new £2.1 million investment timed to coincide with plans to create 75 new jobs at their west Belfast manufacturing plant.
The funding is aimed at helping Andor exploit new opportunities in the fast-growing life sciences market.
Founded in 1989 by physicists from Queens University, Andor is a world leader in the development and production of instruments used in spectroscopy and scientific imaging.
The company’s products have a broad range of applications in the field of material analysis, including drug discovery, gene analysis and forensic science.
Dr Hugh Cormican, Andor’s Managing Director and an original founder of the business, said: “This investment will allow us to support the high level of product development and customer service that is demanded by manufacturers in this fast-moving market. Significant opportunity lies within our historic markets and within life sciences, we have every intention of realising this.” (GB)
