Consultation paper launched on railway line closure
The Department for Regional Development has issued an Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) consultation paper on the proposed discontinuance of the Antrim to Knockmore railway line.
Commenting on the paper DRD Minister Gregory Campbell, said: "The consultation process will remain open for a period of 12 weeks. I encourage the consultees to give this paper their full consideration and forward their views to my Department in due course."
Services on the Antrim-Knockmore railway line are due to be discontinued following the re-opening of the £16.9 million Antrim to Bleach Green railway line earlier this year.
The EQIA paper sets out the possible impact of the proposal to discontinue the Antrim to Knockmore service on the basis of nine equality groups identified across Northern Ireland. These are defined as gender, religious belief, political opinion, age, race, disability, marital status, sexual orientation and those with dependants.
Responses to the consultation paper should relate to the effects the proposal will have on these groups. (GB)
