Teenager dies after being knocked down near sectarian interface

Police are investigating an incident in which a 16-year-old boy riding a bicycle was knocked down and killed in Belfast.

The teenager, named as Thomas McDonald, received serious head injuries and was taken to hospital where he later died.

Police have arrested a woman in connection with the incident.

The 16-year-old was seen cycling away from the Arthur’s Bridge area which is between the mainly Protestant White City estate and the mainly Catholic Longlands area.

It was reported that a car driven by a woman with a female passenger hit the bicycle, knocking the youth off.

The incident occurred near to a sectarian interface following several hours of rioting in the Whitewell Road area on Monday night.

However, the area was reported to be quite when the incident occurred.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. (SP)

Man Stabbed In Stomach
A man has been stabbed in the stomach by another man in south Belfast. Police said the incident occurred somewhere in the area incorporating the Donegall Road, Donegall Avenue and Tates Avenue between 17:45 and 18:15 on Thursday evening. The victim has been taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Woman And Child Knocked Down By Mobility Scooter
Police are seeking a woman on a mobility scooter who struck down a grandmother and a child in Co L'Derry. The incident happened on William Street at around 11.30am on Thursday. It is understood the woman and her grandson, who was in a pushchair, were knocked over as they stood on a footpath.

'No Evidence' Of Shots Fired At House In L'Derry
Police have said there was "no evidence" of shots being fired at a house in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Cornshell Fields area shortly after 11pm on Monday, 27 February. A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police have carried out a number of enquiries and there is no evidence to suggest that shots were fired.

The PSNI have asked West Midlands Police to investigate an alleged domestic incident at the home of Police Ombudsman Marie Anderson. It is understood that officers attended a "report of a domestic incident" at an address in Co Down on Saturday, September 23, at around 6.30pm.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
