Antrim Firm Wins Titanic Fit-out

The contract for the fit-out of the interior Exhibition and Gallery at Titanic Belfast - which is set to open in April next year - has been awarded.

Antrim-based Marcon Fit-Out has been awarded the job and will provide design development, manufacture and installation of the joinery exhibition structures and displays throughout Titanic Belfast's nine galleries, each representing a unique part of the Titanic story.

Having grown steadily over the last number of years, Marcon employs 26 people having created additional employment through business gained in Northern Ireland and through expansion across the UK market.

Commenting on the Titanic Project, Mark O'Connor, Director Marcon Fit-out said: "We are very much looking forward to being involved in the development of one of the most exciting and eagerly awaited buildings in Northern Ireland's history.

"It truly is an outstanding piece of architecture and it is vital that its interior reflects the building's undoubted presence. We believe that it is a very positive reflection on the standard and quality of our work that Harcourt Construction has awarded us this prestigious contract."

Throughout the development the company have said they will be using state-of-the-art technology and innovative design interpretation, to help portray the vivid and engaging journey of the Titanic story across the attraction's nine galleries.

"With their experience of interior fit-outs across a wide variety of projects, Marcon has the necessary skills to deliver a first class level of service which will be in keeping with the stature of Northern Ireland's largest ever tourism project."

The building is a dynamic symbol of the regeneration of Belfast and is set to become a major tourism and cultural attraction celebrating the city's maritime heritage. Titanic Belfast anticipates around 400,000 visitors annually.
