Pensioner attacked and robbed in own home

An elderly pensioner has been attacked and robbed at his home in County Down.

The 80-year-old man was assaulted when two men forced their way into his home at Flagstaff Road, Newry.

The attack, which happened around 8pm on Monday September 10, saw the two men punch the victim, knocking him to the ground, before stealing his wallet. The men are described as being in their early 20s with dark skin.

Sinn Fein councillor Packie McDonald has condemned the attack as disturbing and added that it was very worrying for the whole community that people should attack someone so vulnerable.
