Fame Lives At Belfast Waterfront

QMS Theatre Group presents Fame - The Musical at the Waterfront Studio from Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 August.

Fame follows the success of their Spring Musical - Evita at the Waterfront only a few months ago where they hosted the amateur première of the show using Webber's new and full orchestrations with a full 25-piece orchestra.

"Given the current misrepresentation of both young people and students in Northern Ireland, we felt it was important that our next show was something, which explored issues that confront many young people today," said Producer and Co-Founder, Owen McColgan.

Accountancy student and leading lady, Alice McGirr, who plays the part of Serena said: "I was so thrilled to have been cast in the lead female role and I had such a good experience playing The Mistress in the groups production of Evita."

Her other half on stage, local music student Chris Heron, 20, who plays Nick Piazza said: "I am so excited to have been chosen to play the lead in Fame. I saw the auditions for the show advertised and after having seen the recent movie, I knew I wanted to be a part of what I am certain will be a fantastic show."

They will be performing with a strong cast of around 40 locals, each cast as an actor, singer or dancer who are chasing their dreams of fame and fortune.

Based on the hit motion picture and the long-running television series of the 1980s, Fame - The Musical follows a group of students in their relationships at a New York High School for the Performing Arts.

A bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story filled with candour, humour and insight, Fame is filled to the brim with memorable numbers including the hit title song Fame.

Fame - The Musical is staged at the Waterfront Studio from 17 to 20 August. Tickets (priced £14.50 - concessions also available) can be purchased online, from the Waterfront and Ulster Hall Box Offices and by calling 028 9033 4455.
