Kids At Home As Rapists Strike

It has emerged that three children were in a house in Co Armagh as their mother was raped by two masked men on Thursday.

The men entered a house in the Drumbeg South, Monbrief area of Craigavon shortly after 10pm and sexually assaulted the mother, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment after the incident.

It is believed her children, aged three, two and seven months, were in the house at the time of the attack.

The police said that the first male, who spoke with a local accent, is described as being 6'6", of thin build and with large brown eyes.

The second man was 5ft 10in tall, stout and spoke with a local accent.

He was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava pulled down over his face with eyeholes cut out.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the assault to contact them.

SDLP Craigavon councillor Joe Nelson has said there is a real sense of shock following reports of a rape of a woman in a house at Monbrief whilst her three children were in the property.

"It's hard to put in words what would drive people to commit such a depraved crime. Any right-thinking person would condemn this.

"Those responsible need to be caught immediately and I urge anybody with information, however small, to pass it to the police," he said.
