Manufacturing companies take part in CE Marking programme
Northern Ireland machinery, electrical equipment and control panel manufacturers are benefiting from a LEDU programme which has brought them the latest information about the European CE Marking procedure.
Twenty-four LEDU and IDB client companies, from a range of manufacturing sectors took part in the CE Marking Programme which is organised jointly by LEDU and the Northern Ireland Technology Centre. It provides participants with up to date information and advice on how to CE mark their products to the relevant European directives, with emphasis on Machinery, EMC and Low Voltage directives.
LEDU technical executive, Ian Wilkinson who helped organise the initiative said: “While these directives have been law for several years, the required state-of-the-art safety features on machines and electrical devices continually evolves.
“It is essential for manufacturers to keep abreast of these and other changes to the legislation - ignorance is no excuse as a few companies here have discovered to their cost.”
The Programme includes risk assessments of products and ensuring that appropriate technical information is held by the company to prove compliance if required.
In addition, advice is given to ensure the necessary instruction information is supplied with the products, a declaration of conformity is supplied and that the products are CE marked. (MB)
