Line-Up For Tanglewood Festival Announced

The line-up for the 2011 Tanglewood music festival has been announced, featuring over 50 acts on one busy day.

Taking place at the Narrow Water Castle in Newry on August 6, the festival also promises art exhibitions, circus acts and burlesque running alongside myriad music acts.

Topping the bill are Pearl Jam tribute act Pearl Jem, as well as popular Dublin indie band Identity Parade, northern shoegaze rockers A Plastic Rose and technical metal band Gacy's Threads.

The line-up also includes Sanzkrit, The Curtain Thieves, Fancy Crazy, Axis Of (pictured here), Notion, The Geniuine Articles, I'd Fight Ghandi, The Rupturedogs, Ruby Mirenda Rosenberg, Uber Gliteratti, Dutch Shultz, Dead Til Friday, Town Cried Wolf, The Phantom Engineers, Podracer, The Tramps, Langford Double and Swanee River.

The bill includes over 30 other acts, including DJs, bands and solo acts.

Gates open at 12noon and tickets for the day are a reasonable £12, available from Carlin Records in Newry or wegottickets.com. The festival is strictly Over 18s and the first 100 ticket buyers get a free festival pack.

NI Music Fans Prepare For First Festival Since Pandemic
Northern Ireland's first music festival since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic is set to kick off later today. The Stendahl Festival, based in Limavady, Co L'Derry, will see 2,500 music lovers enjoy performances from the likes of Irish folk band Beoga, popstar Lyra and over 60 other musicians, comedians and family performers.

Violent Dissident Republicans Believed To Be Involved In L'Derry Shooting
Police believe violent dissident republicans were involved in a shooting attack in Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 20's, sustained two gunshot wounds to his right leg in he Magowan Park area just before 9pm on Monday, 18 April. He is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
