Laura Marling For Belfast Open House
The Open House Festival, which has hosted amazing acts such as Sea Sick Steve and Mumford & Sons in the past, has announced folk act Laura Marling (pictured) will be supporting Seattle's Fleet Foxes during their Belfast gig.
Belfast's Cathedral Quarter will be hosting the event, running from 22 – 26 June, where folk, roots and traditional music will bring a number of venues to life.
This year's Open House boasts a line-up of some of the biggest names in contemporary folk and roots music adding to an already huge summer for music lovers across Northern Ireland.
Open House offers a whole weekend of all-day open-air concerts at Custom House Square. It will be the very first time the highly acclaimed Fleet Foxes will perform in Belfast and coincides with the release of their much-anticipated new album, Helplessness Blues, out 2nd May.
The title track from the new album is awash in the influences of the first, borrowing respectfully from the likes of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young, Bryan Wilson and even Pink Floyd at times.
A musical flourish saturated in melody while keeping the band's trademark ethereal harmonies as dense, polished and transcendent as always.
Brit Award Winner Laura Marling, tops the line-up on the second evening of outdoor entertainment , while support comes from the two impressive bands, with Ivor Novello award winning Villagers and The Low Anthem.
Director Kieran Gilmore said he was thrilled at the programme assembled for the 13th Open House Festival: "We’ve moved Open House to the longest, brightest - and hopefully hottest - week of the year and we believe that acts such as Fleet Foxes will be just that little bit more special in the open-air and glorious sunshine of a June weekend.
"Huge acts such as Laura Marling are just the tip of a very large iceberg for us this year. There’s so much great music coming out of the 13th Open House that reflects the depth and breadth of a genre that never fails to excite.
"We're looking forward to seeing festival fans, familiar and first timers alike, making their way down to Open House for a week to remember."
