'Building A Business On Your Ideas' Comes To Kilkenny
Next month small business-owners, entrepreneurs, inventors and start-up companies in Kilkenny and surrounding counties will get the opportunity to build their business.
Minister for Research and Innovation, Sean Sherlock TD, has announced that a Government-sponsored free seminar, titled ‘Building a Business on Your Ideas’ will be coming to Kilkenny City next month.
The seminar, organised by the Patents Office, is to be held in The Parade Tower, Patrick's Street, Kilkenny City on Thursday 5th May 2011.
Speakers will include experts from the public and private sectors and local entrepreneurs.
Minister Sherlock said: “This seminar presents a great learning opportunity for small business-owners, entrepreneurs, inventors and start-up companies who want to scale their businesses or turn their ideas into functioning enterprises.
“The numbers attending these seminars around the country has been very encouraging and I’m told that there is a great air of positivity emanating from the seminars.
“It is not generally known that over 80% of new inventions are derived from previous inventions, so during the seminar information will be provided as to where details of previous inventions can be sourced.”
Minister Sherlock concluded: “It will examine how to convert an idea into a business opportunity, due diligence in setting up a business, an insight into what are patents, trade marks and industrial designs and how they should be managed.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and now more than ever they need every support they can to start and grow.”
Admission to the seminars is free but pre-registration with Kilkenny County Enterprise Board is required.
