80,000 'Benefit From Addictions'
The UK Government has revealed that over 80,000 people in the UK are claiming incapacity benefit due to addictions.
Claimants main issues relate to alcohol, drugs or obesity.
More than a quarter in the study had not worked in over a decade, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirmed.
Even though many taxpayers would not support the issue, campaigners say there are too few treatment options for addicts.
The Prime Minister added that many taxpayers felt recipients of incapacity benefits should be "people who are incapacitated through no fault of their own".
With that in mind, the government want to re-assess claimants by 2014.
