Minister welcomes Healthcare Managers to Belfast

Bairbre de Brún, Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety, has given a warm welcome to visiting healthcare managers to Stormont.

Ms de Brún was speaking at the conference reception for delegates from the Institute of Healthcare Management (IHM), who are attending their National Annual Conference at the Waterfront Hall on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 October.

Minister de Brún welcomed, in particular, those who had travelled from Britain and the Republic of Ireland. She added: "For those of you who have not been to Belfast before, I am sure you will enjoy your visit in this most vibrant and happening of cities. For those of you who have been before, your return is ample proof that this is a place with plenty to offer."

She also noted that the conference theme, Breaking Down the Barriers – Building a Better Service, was particularly apt, she said: “Whether we work in health and personal social services or as members of the Assembly, we all realise that to move forward there must be change. That the barriers to change must be removed and, that only then, will we have a firm foundation on which to build a better Service for all.”

The IHM’s National Annual Conference is being held in Belfast for the first time with around 550 delegates from Great Britain and Ireland attending. (MB)
