Elderly Larne Residents Displaced In Alert
Nursing home residents have now been allowed back into their rooms after a security alert in the seaside town of Larne.
Staff and residents in the nursing home, in the Co Antrim's town's Dunboyne Avenue, were moved from their rooms to the back of the premises overnight.
Commenting, Alliance Larne Councillor Gerardine Mulvenna has expressed her disgust at those behind the security alert on Wednesday night.
She said that a suspicious object was found near the nursing home.
Cllr Mulvenna said: "I am disgusted by the people who have caused this security alert. They are callous and sick individuals.
"These people have no respect for the lives and well being of other people.
"The public wants these security alerts to stop.
"I would urge anybody with any information about this suspicious device to contact the police," she said, after part of The Roddens and Greenland Road area were closed to traffic for several hours.
The PSNI have now said that the area was reopened to traffic early on Thursday.
