Larne Town Hall Expanding
Stonework is to be repaired and brought back to its original glory as around £2.5m is spent in Co Antrim to fund a major town hall extension.
The three-storey extension is being built to the rear of Larne's Town Hall, providing a modest boost for local builders with the main contractor, Tracey Brothers, now appointed for the contract.
This will involve the demolition of a one and two-storey rear extension at McGarel Town Hall, Main Street, to allow for the construction of a three-storey extension.
According to the website www.unearthore.com the plans include an infill extension adjacent to the main stairs, the refurbishment and alterations to the interior to include a lift installation and the change of use of dwelling to offices are all included in the plans.
The contract period is for 15 months and is programmed to commence during late April with a considerable element of stonework repair and restoration also involved. The architect is the Boyd Partnership.
