Council Aims To Get Belfast Working
Belfast City Council is holding a free business advice clinic next week to help those who have been made redundant or anyone simply looking for a new direction to take.
'New Directions' will be held in the City Hall on Wednesday 6 April (12pm-2pm) and will target anyone interested in starting up their own business, becoming self-employed or going in a different business direction.
A range of business support and training organisations will be attendance in the Great Hall throughout the lunchtime period.
Those attending the drop-in clinic will be able to find out about starting up their own business; finding the right business premises; employing people; accessing finance and managing the risks to a business through proper planning and insurance.
They will also be able to get help with their business plan through the business plan clinic, assistance with marketing their business and finding our about the training opportunities that are available to them.
Key agencies on hand to provide one-to-one support and advice at the event next week are nibusinessinfo.com, Belfast Metropolitan College, University of Ulster; HM Revenue & Customs, The Prince's Trust, the Local Enterprise Agencies, Advantage, Health & Safety Works NI, Labour Relations Agency, Equality Commission, Social Economy Network, UnLtd, FSB and Belfast City Council’s Waste Management, Health & Safety and Economic Development Departments.
New Directions is funded by Belfast City Council and the European Regional Development Fund under the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

Belfast City Council To Reform Planning Services
Belfast City Council has announced it's intention to reform Planning Services, with a renewed focus on how it communicates with various customer groups. The announcement follows recommendations in a report it commissioned by Scotland's former Chief Planner, Jim Mackinnon CBE and broad consultation with a number of stakeholder groups.

Belfast City Council Stadium Plan Expenditure
Belfast City Council has approved further expenditure of £140,000 on a new business plan to examine building a regional stadium in Belfast. It is reported that Belfast City Council has already spent in the region of £60,000 on the issue of a stadium in the city. Two previous proposals for a stadium at Ormeau Park have been dismissed.

Significant Progress Made On £1bn Belfast Region City Deal
Belfast City Council has announced that significant progress has been made on the £1 billion Belfast Region City Deal. Planning has been approved for Newtownabbey's Factory of the Future sit at Global Point and the contract for pre-construction has been awarded for this key component of the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre.

Drive-Through KFC Refusal Overturned
Residents of Ballyhackamore in east Belfast have been voicing their anger over a plan by fast food firm, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) to build a drive-through restaurant on the corner of Knockhill Park and the Upper Newtownards Road.
