Marks and Spencer reopens revamped Belfast store
Marks and Spencer have reopened their store at Donegall Place following a £1.5 million revamp of the outlet that first opened its doors in 1967.
In a bid to rekindle Marks and Sparks image for the 21st Century the new-look store in Belfast has joined around 90 other UK outlets that have been overhauled in a renewal programme that aims at bring back more trade for the chain store.
Marks and Spencer’s Belfast store manager, Colin Hamilton said that the makeover scheme was one of the most ambitious redevelopment programmes ever undertaken by the company in Belfast.
The decision to revamp the stores was taken following a major customer consultation exercise to establish what products, services, customers wanted to see in a modern contemporary store.
Mr Hamilton said local shoppers had been the “driving force” behind the transformation in the Belfast store.
Marks and Spencer are also planning a major multi-million pound refurbishment and extension as part of a revamp of the Bangor outlet in the Bloomfield shopping complex. (SP)
