Kilkeel Aerospace Firm Gets New Boss
There's a new high-flyer in Co Down with Neil Cairns just appointed to the post of Vice President and Managing Director of B/E Aerospace, Kilkeel.
B/E Aerospace is the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft cabin interior products for the commercial and business jet aircraft markets and the leading global distributor of aerospace fasteners.
The company has leading worldwide market shares in all of its major product lines and serves virtually all of the world's airlines, aircraft manufacturers and leasing companies through its direct global sales and customer support organizations.
The Kilkeel plant, which currently employs 550 people, is the only B/E Aerospace production base which manufactures its complete range of aircraft seats.
Mr Cairns, (pictured) who is originally from Durham, has been Quality Director at the Co Down plant since 2008, before which he worked as the General Manager and Vice President of Quality In The Americas for a leading international supplier of speciality plastic and fibre products, based in Mexico.
Mr Cairns is confident about opportunities for growth at Kilkeel and commented: "My focus is firmly on continuous improvement across all areas of the business as the Co Down plant positions itself to benefit from increased throughput later this year."
He succeeds Sean Cromie - who has recently taken up the post of Vice President and General Manager of B/E Aerospace's Commercial Aircraft Segment in the US.
